Welcome! We’re glad you’re coming.

We extend a warm welcome to everyone visiting St. James. When you worship with us, the ushers and the service bulletin can help guide you through the service. Everyone is welcome to partake in Holy Communion.

Your first Sunday, step by step

What happens at the 10:15 service, from the curb to Coffee Hour.

  1. Park on the street

St. James is at 581 Valley Road, at the corner of Bellevue Avenue and Valley Road. There is plenty of street parking, and Montclair suspends meter fees on Sundays. The lot on Bellevue Avenue is reserved for staff.

  2. An usher meets you

Greeters welcome you at the door and hand you a bulletin. The ushers and the bulletin guide you through the service.

  3. Children go to class

Sunday School classes begin in church at 10:15 for the opening procession and prayer, then return to rejoin their parents at the Peace. Nursery care runs from 10:00 to 11:30.

  4. Everyone may receive Communion

Our services follow the Book of Common Prayer, and everyone is welcome to partake in Holy Communion.

  5. Stay for Coffee Hour

Coffee, juice and refreshments in the parish hall after the 10:15 service. The easiest way to get to know the people of St. James.

Parking

There is plenty of street parking around the church. Montclair parking meter fees are suspended on Sundays. We regret that we are unable to offer parking for outside groups in the church lot on Bellevue Avenue, which is reserved for church staff and the preschool teachers. Please do not use the parking spaces reserved for Salon 212, our neighbor.

Stay in touch

We hope that you will make an appointment to meet with our clergy. We would love to hear about your spiritual journey and how we can work together in mission and ministry.

Can’t make it in person? The 10:15 service is also on Zoom.
